Recognizing R.C.A.F. PBY Canso 11024 Pilots and Crew

RCAF Flight Officer W.A.Wright
Walter Wright, joined the R.C.A.F. in 1950 and served at various C.A.F. bases until 1983. Trained as a navigator he transferred to C.F.B. Greenwood Nova Scotia in 1951 and joined the 103 Rescue Squadron. From 1951 to 1953 he flew as Navigator aboard various aircraft including the PBY-5A Canso’s, Dakota’s and Lancasters with some fine pilots like Flight Officer Mike Pearson, Flight Officer Carl Ensom and F/L H.W.Leleu. One such flight became a memorable experience not to be forgotten. On November 11 1951 aboard PBY-5A RCAF 11024 Walter was navigator for F/L Pearson and F/O Grant as the escort aircraft on the Royal Tour to Canada by Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
